Influenced executives in the development of objectives to maximize strategic outcomes in marketing and outreach in enterprise/commercial segments with Intel's largest customers like Lenovo and HP. Drove AI thought leadership through talks and pilot programs with customers and partners.

  • Generated $2.7M in marketing impact, $1.5M in sales leads, and over $1.2M in direct sales through strategic partnerships with startups, OEMs, small-medium businesses, public schools, and universities. Authored and collaborated on over 60 product advocacy and thought leadership marketing collateral using program proof points, impact stories, and case studies for NUCs, gaming PCs and laptops, sustainable and modular PCs, and the AI PC.

  • Facilitated key strategic decisions on a >$1B/year technology strategic planning initiative as Chief of Staff.

  • Leveraged product advocacy practices from outreach to provide feedback to engineering teams to improve product quality and performance. Sr. Technical Business Development Manager (Internet of Things Group) | May 2020 – Aug 2021

Drove a competitive analysis program influencing design strategy and product roadmap in a new edge AI product business. Developed strategies and partnerships for obtaining competitive insights on power and performance, user and developer experience, hardware components, and cost. Guided executives with key performance metrics and end-to-end use cases for evaluating Intel’s edge AI product performance against the competition. 

  • Developed and presented product data and communication to executive audiences to define the product roadmap for Intel’s edge inference product portfolio, including AI Boxes and add-in cards.

  • Oversaw competitive insights such as product financials, key indicators for measuring power and performance, product roadmaps updates, and future capability analysis. Leveraged teams of competitive analysts to forecast windows of competitive viability of Intel’s discrete accelerators from a performance and SW ecosystem perspective.

  • Influenced executives to make key roadmap changes to smaller add-in card and AI Box businesses, shifting $50M dollars to other products based on competitive viability.

Sr. Engineering Manager (Datacenter & AI Group) | Apr 2016 – May 2020

Supervised a cross-functional team of engineers (mechanical, thermal, structural, and user experience) delivering thermal designs for HPC systems at the blade and rack levels, including the Aurora Supercomputer. Developed and leveraged forecasting systems for over $17M in programs budget and headcount. Pioneered innovation programs that reduced analysis lead time by 40 hours and influenced design strategy. Defined team priorities and oversaw key performance indexes, delivering on >90% of team goals.

  • Launched an innovation tiger team (with only 10% employee time commitment) to develop repeatable and scalable python automation solutions. Reduced processing of thermal validation testing results from 30 min to 1 min; application at-scale validated data processing of a system install at an HPC customer and reduced the validation process from 1 week to <1 min.

  • Incubated and championed a new business idea to model datacenter performance from the processor up to the facility. Model empowered cloud customer enablement teams to work with cloud service providers to determine an economically viable inflection point to switch from air to liquid cooling in their datacenters and total cost of ownership.

  • Spearheaded a UX engineering capability to improve customer satisfaction with cooling solutions. Developed a roadmap of mechanical design usability studies, oversaw the deployment of usability study training for engineers, implemented UX-gating milestones into design engineering checklists, and established a cross-organizational Customer Experience Forum to drive “design thinking” into the culture and engineering processes. Directed the application of UX services in support of a joint Intel-Jaguar Land Rover autonomous vehicle project.

  • Conducted spending trend analyses for hardware development to provide executives with six quarters of forecast visibility. Leveraged forecast framework to influence executives on a spending prioritization exercise that reduced planned spend for thermal-mechanical engineering by 86% to meet critical budgetary needs.

 

Sr. Strategic Startup Manager, Entrepreneur-in-Residence (Intel Capital) | Jan 2020 – Jun 2020

Managed a robotics engineering team in Intel Capital’s startup incubator program as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. Formulated and managed the team’s key performance indexes/indicators to successfully complete the incubator through customer research, interviews, synthesis, storyboarding, prototyping, and business model development for a $250,000 cost savings/unit robotic construction solution.

  • Managed the roadmap of program deliverables for the engineers to perform market research and architect an early concept of their solution aligned with customer interviews and industry-specific requirements. Directed engineers to complete program milestones while managing program dependencies and key performance indexes.

  • Guided the startup team on high-level technical decisions and designs, providing applications and potential use cases for their robotics hardware solution as needed for agricultural, industrial/manufacturing, and construction usages. Successfully directed the team to complete the 12-week incubator deliverables in a 5-week span after receiving executive feedback to change target market.

Sr. Startup Portfolio Manager and Valuation Analyst (Intel Capital) | Mar 2019 Aug 2019

Managed operations and performance against quarterly objectives. Managed relationships with startup executives in IOT and edge AI (IOTAS, Foghorn), silicon photonics (Ayar Labs), cloud-based engineering software (OnScale), mobile commerce (VenueNext), manufacturing (Fictiv), and silicon development (SiFive).

  • Developed a valuation impact model quantifying Intel’s impact on portfolio companies’ valuations, growing portfolio value by 10% and delivering >$35M ROI for Intel. Delivered reports on valuation impact projections to Intel Capital’s executive committee to influence strategic decisions for its $350M portfolio and to attract startup companies to its VC firm.

  • Practiced strong customer orientation to understand startup executives’ needs and then leveraged Intel’s expertise to solve their challenges by embedding Intel's engineers and business strategists in startups to provide technical guidance on product optimization and coaching revenue growth and target market shifts.

Sr. Mechanical Engineer & Design Integration Lead (Datacenter & AI Group) | Apr 2014  Apr 2016

Directed a team of thermal-mechanical engineers to develop proprietary cooling solutions for the Aurora Supercomputer System. Owned design strategy while managing cost, serviceability, supplier selection, requirements, and schedule.

  • Drove switch blade-level integration while continuously comprehending system-level impacts to the cooling design including cabling, board component power requirements, blade and rack geometries, cooling distribution, and datacenter facility requirements. Orchestrated design work with Intel and HPE to meet Argonne’s customer needs.

  • Directed a special taskforce of engineers chartered to perform 3 months of thermal-mechanical design work in 1 month while achieving an 80%-complete design. Led team to design a solution that weighed 2lbs less than previous iterations, cooled all components with >10°C thermal margins, and was 50% below cost per unit requirements.

Sr. Technical Program Manager (Technology Manufacturing Group) | Aug 2011  Apr 2014

Directed an international team of technical experts, developers, and project managers to implement new product quality requirements and provide product qualification tools to a 1000-person customer organization and stakeholders. Managed staff operations, drove resolution of staff actions, and managed senior director’s communications.

  • Oversaw operations for an organization of 150 direct employees and contract workers and $30M in core resources and funding from other departments.

  • Directed a quality systems program spanning >100 projects across software, release criteria, and governing documentation. Guided the priorities of an international software engineering team on key applications for product defect reporting and qualification. Re-imagined program strategy to drive growth to include new customers and business, like phone and tablet form factors and changing regulatory requirements.

Texas A&M University Turbomachinery Laboratory | College Station, TX

Graduate Research Assistant | Apr 2008 – Aug 2012

  • Architected models to predict solid propellant combustion with various nanoparticle additive formulations. Integrated models with a high-pressure burning chamber model to simulate thermodynamic effects observed during actual laboratory experiments. Utilized sub-scale and larger-scale tests with specific chemical formulations to validate model predictions.

United Space Alliance (NASA Space Shuttle Program) | Houston, TX

Senior Design Integration Lead & Head of Ascent Mission Engineering | Apr 2006 – Aug 2011

Managed Space Shuttle trajectory design activities across a 100-person department, including scheduling, risk-mitigation, and communication to external stakeholders. Advised NASA administrators on design and analysis changes to mission status and risk impacts. 

  • Led teams of 15-20 multi-discipline, entry-level to senior engineers performing engineering design and analysis for 13 safe and successful Space Shuttle missions. Led teams with strong attention to detail and praise-worthy communication practices between the team, government representatives, and other companies. Delivered over 20 presentations at program-level NASA reviews ranging from engineering design and analysis changes to mission status.

  • Supervised the group’s technical and professional performance as the technical group lead. Used best hiring practices to personally recruit, select, train, and mentor new high-performing engineers to lead other design and analysis teams. 

  • Identified risks and impacts to shuttle systems as a department representative, team lead, and subject matter expert. Acted accountably for the safety of systems, technical requirements management, and quality of design for multiple project teams.

  • Led a Design for Lean Six Sigma task force that reduced process lead-time by 90% for a conceptual 13-month trajectory design cycle down to 1 month. Further reduced close-to-launch engineering design and analysis lead time by 75% - from 20 to 5 working days. Exceeded NASA officials’ goals to complete analysis within two months and bring the process time down to 1 week. Completed the project a full 4 months before other project teams.

  • Received a department award for mission integration for the STS-120.

Design Engineer | Aug 2004 – April 2008, Nov 2010 – Aug 2011

Analyzed Space Shuttle abort performance and communicated risks to Mission Control console operators and senior management. Developed model improvements and procedures for unique mission requirements and constraints.

  • Applied in-depth knowledge of proprietary models to analyze Space Shuttle abort performance. Used models and knowledge of Space Shuttle systems to assess impacts to performance. Co-developed workarounds and improvements to models for unique mission situations, system configuration, engineering constraints, and customer requirements.

  • Applied systematic approach to developing and improving the processes, techniques and procedures for the creation of new or substantially improved methods or products for Space Shuttle mission design. Conducted software validation and user acceptance testing on Space Shuttle simulation software, including authoring test reports to software requirements and presenting outcomes to senior leadership to certify software for use in Space Shuttle trajectory design.

  • Developed and improved 1-D and 2-D models for heat transfer calculations. Studied thermal integrity in a high-pressure, high-temperature gas dynamics characterization device ("shock tube"). Worked with other research universities to predict and enhance heat transfer. Developed simplified equations that predict thermal boundary layer growth and average temperature loss over time in the device.

  • Network of Intel African Americans (NIA-OR), President (2014-2015)

    • Led a team of volunteer Intel employees through low-authority/high-influence relationships to create an organizational structure and processes mimicking business operations where there were none. Grew the organization from 232 members to >1000 in 8 months. Orchestrated strategic relationships with local and national non-profit organizations for community volunteer events and operationalized event planning. Architected and managed a KPI structure for measuring progress towards team goals and objectives that was transparent to the NIA-OR membership and Intel's executive Black leaders. Delivered presentations on current progress towards goals and communicated new strategic objectives and key messages in “Open Forums” and elicited feedback from the constituents. Delivered key messages via email announcements and newsletters.​

Mentoring & Coaching

  • CreatorSpace Comics Camp, Founder (2019, 2023-2024)

    • Launched a 5-day program exposing underrepresented youth to comics and creative expression. Featuring seminars from creators like Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain Marvel, Aquaman), Matt Fraction (X-Men, Hawkeye, Iron Man), David Walker (Luke Cage, Naomi, Bitter Root) and Brian Michael Bendis (Superman, Ultimate Spider-Man, X-Men).​

  • Intel STEM Seminar Coach (2015, 2017)

    • Conducted youth-focused STEM workshops at the National Urban League Conference and the NSBE National Convention

  • Tualatin Valley Youth Football, Westview Wildcats Assistant Coach (2014-2017)

    • Coached Westview Youth Football for 4 years (5th grade through 8th grade). Four time league champions.

  • Intel Mentoring and Planning Services, Oregon Site Lead & Volunteer (2012-2015)

    • Oversaw Intel’s skills-based volunteering efforts for Oregon for three years. Coordinated over 1200 hours (~$120,000) of free, professional services to non-profit, education, and government entities.
